Terms of Service
Last updated: October 8, 2026
SpotMyDJ is in beta. This page describes how the service works today and may change as the product develops.
These terms apply when you use SpotMyDJ as a customer or as a DJ. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What SpotMyDJ is
SpotMyDJ is an online platform where customers describe an event, discover DJs, exchange messages, receive offers and book DJs. DJs are independent professionals. The DJ is responsible for performing the booked service. SpotMyDJ does not perform it and does not guarantee that any DJ will be available, that a match will be found, or that an enquiry will result in a booking.
Beta service
SpotMyDJ is in beta. Features, pricing, availability and these terms may change, and the service may be interrupted. Online payments may be unavailable for some bookings or at some times. Where that is the case, the platform will tell you before you are charged.
Accounts
- You need an account to save events, contact DJs, make offers or book.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be able to enter into a binding agreement under the law that applies to you.
- SpotMyDJ is not restricted to users aged 18 or over. However, you must have the legal capacity to enter into the relevant agreement. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must enter into or approve bookings, payments or other binding financial agreements where required by applicable law. DJ payout eligibility may also be subject to Stripe's own requirements.
Customer responsibilities
- Provide accurate event details, including date, time, location, equipment and any special requirements.
- Review the DJ's offer and the cancellation policy before accepting.
- Pay for accepted bookings within the payment deadline.
- Treat DJs and their equipment with respect and provide the agreed access, power and conditions at the venue.
DJ responsibilities
- Keep your profile, pricing, equipment, availability and media accurate and truthful.
- Complete Stripe Connect payout setup. A DJ without a ready payout account cannot be booked through online payment.
- Only offer dates you can perform, and perform confirmed bookings professionally and on time.
- Only upload content you have the right to use. DJs remain responsible for their own taxes, permits, licences and music rights.
Enquiries, offers and bookings
A customer sends an enquiry to a DJ. The DJ may reply with messages and a priced offer. A booking becomes confirmed when the customer accepts an offer on SpotMyDJ. After acceptance, payment is due within 24 hours or before the event starts, whichever is earlier. A confirmed booking that is not paid in time expires. Matching suggestions, including AI-assisted ones, are suggestions only.
Payments
Booking payments are processed by Stripe in Danish kroner (DKK). SpotMyDJ does not store your full card details. The customer pays the agreed offer price. A SpotMyDJ booking fee is deducted from the DJ's share before payout. The fee rate is fixed on each booking when it is confirmed and is shown to the DJ on their Payouts page. Stripe may apply its own checks and may decline or delay a payment.
DJ payouts
DJ payouts are made through Stripe Connect. A payout is prepared only after the booking is completed, the payment is confirmed and a 48-hour safety window has passed. A payout is held or not released while a refund, cancellation review, dispute or reported problem is open. Payout timing depends on this process and on Stripe, and is not guaranteed.
DJ compensation owed for a cancelled booking is not paid out automatically. Where the cancellation policy gives the DJ a share, it is reviewed and settled manually by SpotMyDJ, and timing is not guaranteed.
Cancellation and refunds
The SpotMyDJ cancellation policy for a booking is shown before the customer accepts an offer, and the version that applies is recorded on the booking. Notice is measured from the cancellation time to the event start time in the Europe/Copenhagen time zone. When customers cancel, the refund and DJ compensation shares are:
- A booking can be cancelled within 24 hours of confirmation with a full customer refund if the event is still more than 48 hours away. This does not apply inside 48 hours.
- If a DJ cancels, the customer normally receives a 100 percent refund.
- If the customer does not show up, the customer refund is 0 percent and the DJ share is 100 percent. If a DJ does not show up, the customer is refunded in full, subject to review.
- Safety-related cancellations, force majeure claims (for example serious illness, severe weather, government restrictions or transport shutdowns) and mutual cancellations are not settled automatically. They are reviewed manually by SpotMyDJ, which decides a settlement such as a refund, a partial refund or rescheduling based on the information provided.
- Rescheduling requires agreement between both parties and is handled separately from cancellation.
- Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe. Timing depends on Stripe and your bank.
Cancellation policy
- 30 or more days before the eventCustomer 90% / DJ 10%
- 14 to 30 days before the eventCustomer 70% / DJ 30%
- 7 to 14 days before the eventCustomer 50% / DJ 50%
- 48 hours to 7 days before the eventCustomer 25% / DJ 75%
- Less than 48 hours before the eventCustomer 0% / DJ 100%
- A 24-hour booking grace period applies only when the event is more than 48 hours away.
- A DJ cancellation normally means a 100 percent customer refund.
- Safety, force majeure and certain exceptional cases may require manual review.
- Rescheduling requires agreement between both parties and is handled separately from cancellation.
Payment disputes and chargebacks
If a customer disputes a payment with their bank or card issuer, Stripe may withdraw the disputed funds. While a dispute is open, the related DJ payout is held. If the dispute is lost, SpotMyDJ will not release a payout for that payment and may adjust or withhold related amounts as permitted by law and these terms. Please contact support before opening a dispute so we can try to resolve the problem.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- give false information, impersonate others or post fake reviews;
- harass, threaten or discriminate against other users;
- attempt to access accounts, data or systems you are not authorised to use, or interfere with the service;
- scrape the service or use automated means to abuse features such as AI event analysis or messaging;
- use the service for fraud, unlawful activity or unlawful payments.
Content and intellectual property
SpotMyDJ and its brand, software and design belong to SpotMyDJ or its licensors. DJs and customers keep ownership of the content they submit (such as profile text, photos, videos, reviews and messages). You give SpotMyDJ a non-exclusive licence to host, display and use that content as needed to operate and promote the service. You confirm that you have the rights to do so. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
AI features
Event descriptions may be analysed by AI to suggest structured details and matches. The output can be incomplete or wrong, so please check it. AI is not used to decide payments or refunds.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close accounts, remove content or limit features if we reasonably believe these terms are broken, there is a risk of fraud or harm, or we are required to by law. You may stop using SpotMyDJ at any time. Existing bookings and payment obligations continue to be handled under these terms.
Liability
The service is provided as is during beta, without promises of availability, uninterrupted operation, successful matching or the performance of any DJ or customer. To the extent the law allows, SpotMyDJ is not liable for indirect losses or for the acts and omissions of users. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the service after an update, the updated terms apply.
Contact and governing law
Contact details and, where provided, the governing law for these terms are listed in the business information below. For help, see the Support page.
Governing law and disputes. These Terms and your use of SpotMyDJ are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections that would otherwise apply under the law of your country of habitual residence. If a dispute arises, please contact support@spotmydj.com first so we can try to resolve it. If the dispute cannot be resolved, it may be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory right a consumer may have to bring proceedings before the courts of their home country.
